Trusting God in the Unknown

by | Apr 8, 2025

Have you ever found yourself questioning where God is in the midst of life’s chaos? You’re not alone. Many of us have been there, wondering how to make sense of the confusion and pain that sometimes clouds our lives. The good news is that the Apostle Paul offers us a powerful reminder in Romans chapters 9, 10, and 11: when life doesn’t make sense, don’t lose sight of the big picture. Instead, let your trust in God lead you to a deeper faith.

Paul’s heartfelt message to the Romans wasn’t about settling theological debates or choosing sides in the age-old Calvinism versus Arminianism discussion. It was about addressing a crucial question: Has God rejected His chosen people? The answer is a resounding no. God is faithful, even when we can’t see it. So, how do we hold onto this truth when life throws us curveballs?

Understanding the Big Picture

Paul’s message in Romans is clear: God has not failed His promises. He reminds us of the history of Israel, the chosen people, and how God has been faithful through generations. Even when Abraham and Sarah ran ahead of God, trying to fulfill His promise on their own, God remained true to His word. This history lesson serves as a reminder that God’s timing and ways are beyond our understanding.

When we face personal struggles, it’s easy to get caught up in the details and lose sight of the bigger picture. We might question God’s presence or doubt His love for us. But just as Paul reassures the Romans, we need to remember that God is faithful, and His promises are unchanging.

Taking Action: Trust Over Doubt

So, what can you do when life doesn’t make sense? Here are a few steps to help you trust God more deeply:

  1. Acknowledge Your Doubts: It’s okay to have questions and doubts. Bring them to God in prayer, just as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane. He understands your struggles and wants to walk with you through them.
  2. Focus on God’s Faithfulness: Reflect on the times God has been faithful in your life. Write them down and revisit them when doubt creeps in. Remember, His faithfulness in the past is a promise for the future.
  3. Surrender Your Will: Like Jesus, pray, “Not my will, but Your will be done.” This act of surrender can bring peace, even when circumstances don’t change immediately.
  4. Seek Community: Surround yourself with fellow believers who can support and pray for you. Share your struggles and let them remind you of God’s love and faithfulness.

Conclusion

The point is, God wants your trust, even when life doesn’t make sense. What will you do this week to deepen your faith and trust in Him? Will you choose to see the forest instead of getting lost in the trees? Remember, without taking this step, you might miss out on the peace and assurance that God wants for you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unwavering faithfulness. Help us to trust You more deeply, even when life is confusing and painful. Remind us of Your promises and guide us to surrender our will to Yours. May we find peace in knowing that You are always with us, working for our good. Amen.
