“Let Go and Let God” by Cynthia D’Attillio

Matthew is on my fridge.

Well, not Matthew specifically, but a verse from his book is currently on an index card on my fridge. The card is crumpled and the ink is faded because that card has been many places with me. It’s been in my car propped up against the dashboard. It’s been in my pocket as a reminder. It’s been in my purse, and on my desk. I used it as a bookmark in my Bible for a while. I’ve held it in my hand as I prayed and even as I’ve cried.

Funny thing is, I don’t remember what chapter and verse it is even though I’ve looked at it many, many times. And, to be honest, I had to look it up in order to write it here for you: Matthew 6:27. Are you familiar with it?

To me, it’s more important to remember what it says than what numbers are attached to it. It’s so helpful, especially in the crazy world we live in lately. It puts everything in perspective, and it provides comfort.

It says: “Can any of you by worrying add even a single hour to your life?” This is what I focus on—the meaning of the verse. Isn’t it wonderful? Stop worrying. Don’t be anxious. God’s got this. He’s got your back. Nothing can harm you if you trust in Him. God is good. You are small. It’s okay. It’s all going to be okay. You’re not going to solve anything alone, so let it go and let God handle things.

I’m not really sure what else I want to say here today. I’ve been praying about this blog post, and I’m submitting it late because I keep starting posts on different topics and then deleting them. Today I realized that I keep coming back to this verse on my fridge. Maybe it’s because I see it as I get (another) iced coffee, but truly, I think it is the answer to my “what should I write about” prayer. So pay attention. Our father wants you to know—he wants me to know: We are so blessed to have such an awesome God. Don’t worry about a thing. He’s got everything in the palm of His hand—including you.

Praise Him!

Planted and Raised

“When you put a seed into the ground, it doesn’t grow into a plant unless it dies first. And what you put in the ground is not the plant that will grow, but only a bare seed of wheat or whatever you are planting. Then God gives it the new body he wants it to have.” I...
