Alright, how many of you automatically started singing “God’s Plan” by Drake when you first saw the title? Or maybe it’s just me and my millennial self. Regardless, I was listening to this song the other day, and it made me question myself, “what is God’s plan for my life?” I then thought about past choices and decisions, and almost immediately got discouraged and questioned if God, as all mighty and all knowing as He is, would actually want to use someone like myself? All of the things I have done, or might do? I was then reminded of a passage I read in a book titled “Everybody Always” by Bob Goff. It’s kind of a lengthy quote, but worth the read:
“I think God allows all of us to go missing a time or two. He doesn’t lose us… but He lets us get lost for a while if it’s what we want. When we do, He doesn’t pout or withhold His love the way I probably would if someone completely ignored me or walked away from me. Instead, He pursues us in love. He’s not trying to find us; He already knows where we are. Rather, He goes with us as we find ourselves again…God isn’t constantly telling us what to do as we search for ourselves either. He gently reminds us who we are. He continues to rewrite our lives the way I rewrote my book—in beautiful and unexpected ways, knowing the next version of us will usually be better than the previous one”
After re-reading that passage, I am reminded of God’s grace for us. There is nothing that we can do that would stop God from loving us. Even when we might stray away, God is still waiting with open arms for us to come back to Him. In Psalms 103:13-14, it states “The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust”. God KNOWS we are only human (dust) and does not expect that we will not make mistakes. He will walk with us through those mistakes, and show us what His true plan for us is.
So whether you have been veering away from God for a while, or maybe never even accepted Him into your life, stop, turn towards Him and accept His love. Jesus will be running to you with arms wide open, ready for you to carry out God’s plan!
