Finding Peace

by | Mar 11, 2025

Have you ever found yourself at odds with someone, feeling the weight of unresolved conflict? Maybe it was a friend, a coworker, or even your spouse. The tension can be overwhelming, but do you remember the relief when peace was finally restored? Now, imagine experiencing that same peace with God. The good news is, it’s possible for everyone. Romans 5 reveals that peace with God is available to all through faith in Jesus Christ. This peace isn’t just for our relationship with God but extends to every situation we face, even the toughest ones.

Understanding Peace with God

The Apostle Paul starts Romans 5 by declaring that we have been justified by faith, which means we’ve been declared righteous. This isn’t something we earn; it’s a gift from God. Just like getting a driver’s license or a diploma declares something about us, being justified by faith declares us righteous before God. This is possible because of Jesus. When we put our faith in Him, God sees us through the lens of Jesus’ sacrifice. This is the foundation of our peace with God.

But it doesn’t stop there. Paul explains that through Jesus, we have obtained access to grace. It’s like having a VIP pass to God’s presence. This access is not based on our merit but on our faith in Jesus. It’s an invitation to experience God’s grace and peace in every aspect of our lives.

Peace in Every Situation

Life is full of challenges, and as followers of Jesus, we’re not exempt from suffering. In fact, we’re called to endure it. But here’s the incredible part: even in suffering, we can have peace. Paul tells us that our trials develop endurance, which shapes our character and strengthens our hope. This hope is not wishful thinking; it’s a confident assurance that God is with us and for us.

During the season of Lent, we’re reminded of the importance of reflection and repentance. It’s a time to examine our hearts and align ourselves with God’s will. Fasting, whether from food or other distractions, helps us focus on our dependence on God. It’s an opportunity to let go of things like hatred and unforgiveness and embrace the peace that comes from being reconciled with God.

Taking the Next Step

So, what does this mean for you? How can you experience this peace with God? It starts with faith. If you’ve never placed your faith in Jesus, now is the time. Trust in His redemptive work on the cross and receive the peace that only He can give. If you’re already a believer, consider how you can deepen your relationship with God during this season of Lent. Maybe it’s through fasting, intentional prayer, or seeking reconciliation in a broken relationship.

Remember, peace with God is available to everyone. It’s a gift waiting to be received. Will you take the step to embrace it?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the peace that comes through faith in Jesus. Help us to trust in Your promises and experience the fullness of Your grace. During this season of Lent, guide us in reflection and repentance, and teach us to rely on You in every situation. May Your peace fill our hearts and transform our lives. Amen.
