Build God’s Church: Bringing Your Brick to the Spiritual Community

by | Jul 15, 2025

Ever wonder how you fit into the grand design of God’s plan? Imagine if each of us is like a LEGO brick, unique and essential, contributing to a larger masterpiece. This is the heart of our sermon series, “Bring Your Brick,” where we explore how God uses each of us to build His church.

The Foundation: Jesus, Our Rock

In Matthew 16:18, Jesus declares, “I will build my church.” This promise is not just about physical structures but about a living, breathing community of believers. Jesus is the cornerstone, the rock upon which the church is built. But what does this mean for us? It means that each of us has a role to play, a unique gift to offer, as we join together in faith and service.

The Power of Unity: Connecting Our Bricks

Just as six LEGO bricks can create millions of combinations, our diverse gifts and talents can come together in countless ways to build the church. In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul emphasizes the importance of spiritual gifts, not as personal accolades but as tools for the common good. The Holy Spirit empowers us, giving each person a unique gift to contribute to the body of Christ.

Consider this: when was the last time you paused to reflect on your spiritual gifts? Have you asked the Holy Spirit to reveal how you can serve? Whether it’s through teaching, hospitality, or simply offering a helping hand, your contribution is vital. The church thrives when we connect our bricks, working in unity to fulfill God’s purpose.

Practical Steps: Bringing Your Brick

So, how can you bring your brick to the church? Start by identifying your gifts. Are you passionate about working with children, organizing events, or perhaps you have a knack for carpentry? Whatever your talent, there’s a place for you in God’s plan. Here are a few practical steps to consider:

  1. Pray for Guidance: Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal your gifts and how you can use them to serve others.
  2. Get Involved: Join a ministry or volunteer team that aligns with your interests and skills.
  3. Connect with Others: Build relationships within the church community to discover how your gifts can complement others.

A Call to Action: Be Part of the Building

As we continue this journey, remember that building God’s church is a collective effort. It’s not about one person or a select few; it’s about all of us coming together, each bringing our brick. If you’re ready to take the next step, we invite you to reach out and let us help you find your fit in our community.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the unique gifts You’ve given each of us. Help us to see how we can use these gifts to serve others and build Your church. Guide us in unity and love, as we come together to fulfill Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

By embracing our roles and connecting with one another, we can truly be the church God has called us to be. Let’s bring our bricks and watch as God builds something beautiful.
