Think about the Apostle Paul. His story was undeniably intense—he literally persecuted Christians before encountering Jesus on the road to Damascus. But when Paul shared his testimony in Acts 26, he wasn’t relying on drama alone. He was pointing to transformation. He showed what life looked like before Jesus, described how Jesus interrupted his path, and explained what happened after.
That same three-part framework works for every believer, whether your story involves escaping addiction or simply discovering that the God you thought was distant actually loves you deeply.
The Simple Framework That Changes Everything
Before Jesus: What was your life like? Maybe it was marked by anxiety, loneliness, or a low-grade ache that whispered, “There has to be more than this.” Perhaps you felt unworthy of love or trapped in guilt. Your “before” doesn’t need villains and drama—it just needs honesty.
When Jesus Interrupted: How did God break into your story? Maybe a friend invited you to church, you hit rock bottom, or you simply heard the gospel explained in a way that finally clicked. This is the pivot point where everything changed.
After Jesus: What has God done since then? Opened your eyes to who He really is? Given you peace where anxiety once ruled? Freed you from shame? Shown you that you belong in His family? This is where you describe the ongoing transformation—because God’s work in you isn’t finished.
Connecting Your Story to God’s Story
Here’s where it gets even better: your personal story connects directly to God’s grand story of redemption. When you share how Jesus forgave you, you’re echoing the truth that “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son” (John 3:16). When you talk about finding peace, you’re illustrating the promise that Jesus gives us peace the world cannot provide.
You’re not just sharing autobiography—you’re bearing witness to what God does for everyone who turns to Him.
