God Is Our Help

by | Jun 22, 2021

I hear many people talk about the “good old days” and how they miss them.  I remember growing up as a child, going to school and having daily devotions and Bible reading over the loudspeakers with the Pledge of Allegiance as a daily routine.  Church was the center of the community and everybody went to church.  Our stores were closed on Sundays, no liquor sold, and it was a day of rest and reflection on the church service.  Families got together on Sundays to laugh and enjoy a good time.  I don’t remember any hatred for the flag, or attacking others for their beliefs.  As the song goes- The times, they are a-changing.  And not for the better either.

Our nation is in great distress today.  I see our way of life eroding before my eyes.  What was right has become wrong, what was wrong has now become right.  Our nation voted God out of our schools, our government and our society.  We are now seeing the results of that decision with all the hatred, attacks on people, and other rampant sins in our nation.  I am so afraid for my grandchildren for the world they are now growing up in.  I know God is a just and holy God and above Him there is no other.  Because of His holiness and justness, I know we as a nation are going to have judgement brought on our nation and I firmly believe we are seeing that now.  I also know God is rich in mercy and slow to anger.  His grace and forgiveness can be ours as a nation.  When I think of Nineveh where God poured out his judgement against their sin, I remember that He was also ready to send mercy and forgiveness to that nation rather than bring punishment.  If there were 10 righteous men in that wicked city, God was so ready to spare that city.  I believe as a nation if we as Christian brothers and sisters will pray and seek God’s mercy for our nation, He will indeed show mercy.  If my people which are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”  2 Chronicles 7:14

I have heard it said that God would never let this nation go down.  If He can take down the nation of Israel, His chosen people, who are we to boast of such a thing?  God hates sin and will surely punish it.

Only if we heed the warning and turn to God above can this nation be saved.  I am so guilty of not earnestly praying for our country.  I have begun to make it my priority because I owe it to my grandchildren to do my part to earnestly pray and seek His face.  This also involves turning from our wicked ways of neglect and not making Him a priority.  I believe He will show mercy.  Can we find enough righteous in our nation to ward off punishment?  I would like to think so.  I certainly hope so.  I think that is the only way we as a nation will survive.  Please join me in daily earnestly praying for this country to turn back to God and for a healing to come upon our nation.

God will forgive our sins and heal our nation.  It is a promise you can take to the bank.
