“Fear Is A Liar” by Melissa Mitchell

There is a new song out that has really caught my attention. It is called Fear Is A Liar by Zach Williams. Here is the chorus:

 

Fear he is a liar

He will take your breath

Stop you in your steps

Fear he is a liar

He will rob your rest

Steal your happiness

Cast your fear in the fire

Because fear he is a liar

Have you ever struggled with fear? With worry? It is something that has challenged me often over the years. Worries about money, future, finding the right house to buy, fears over the car breaking down (long road trips – old vehicles). Fear can be paralyzing at times. Have you ever laid in bed at night your mind racing? It can take over your thoughts and rule your life.

As the chorus says: take your breath, stop you, rob your rest, steal your happiness.

Yet, this isn’t the plan God has for us.

In Matthew 11:29, Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

 1 John 4:18, There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

 Philippians 4:8, Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Casting fear aside can be difficult. Prayer, God’s Word, the godly counsel of others, and sometimes even medical help may be necessary. Asking for help in breaking the cycle of worry is a good thing to do. I know because I have done that. I can still struggle with fear and worry but it isn’t as much as it once was. I give praise and thanks to God for that!

Cast your fear in the fire
